The Golf of Fourqueux, located in the Yvelines of Paris region, has chosen the ED 130 TS dethatcher/collector to maintain its Greens, 3 years years ago.
We had a chance to discuss with Jean-Marie PARDO, superintendent on this golf for over 30 years.
Originally, the golf course used dethatching cassettes adapted on green mowers, but the use of these tools impacted the playability of the greens surfaces. The ED 130 TS allows to work in a soft way thanks to its sharpened knives, without leaving marks on the surface, even at 1.5cm working depth – depth selected on this golf course.
“There’s no equivalent machine on the market that dethatch/scarify to this depth, this one doesn’t damage the playing surface, which makes playing possible right after the operation.”
The operation takes around 20 minutes per green. The golf course has 30 greens : 18+9+3, which takes a full day of non-stop work to treat all the greens. This operation is repeated 3 times a year : in spring, summer and autumn, depending on the greens needs and is part of a “zero phyto” approach.
